This article is about the book character. For the movie character, see Tristan (Netflix).

Tristan is an Everboy in the School for Good. In A World Without Princes, they are in the School for Girl (see Yara).

Life as Yara[]

Yara was the name Tristan took when they transformed themself into a girl to join the School for Girl. As Yara, they squawked, twirled, and refused to talk (although they were overheard speaking to Dean Evelyn Sader by Agatha.) In exchange for being Yara, Tristan hid the Storian for Dean Sader in the spine of The Tale of Sophie and Agatha.

Apperance/Description[]

Tristan was an Everboy with reddish-ginger hair and freckles. Tristan is described as having a very similar appearance as Yara, but with graceful limbs and longer hair. Also noted to still be very strong by Dot

In the first book, they dyed their hair blonde to look more like Tedros to impress Beatrix.

As An Everboy[]

In the School for Good and Evil (book), they never played a very big role, besides being one of the normal Everboys, and Kiko's crush. They asked Kiko to the ball (and she accepted.) Tristan doesn't play a very large role in the first book. At one point, Kiko goes to find them with hair dyed red, only to find that they had dyed their hair blond to try and get Beatrix's attention. Tristan copied Tedros a lot, and is even told by Agatha to marry Tedros. Kiko says at the Circus of Talents that Tristan probably doesn't like Agatha because of this.

When the School for Evil turns into the School for Boy, Tristan mysteriously disappeared from the School for Boy out of nowhere (see heading "Yara" above.) While they are gone, Tedros says Tristan would be "the first one to hand the Storian over to a teacher," probably meaning that Tristan was more of a rule-abiding person when it came to authority, and not much of a risk-taker. Yet, at the same time, they did take the chance of being Yara, due to how Aric bullied them for their rather feminine attributes, which was said to be part of the reason why they transitioned themself.

Death[]

Yara is found to have been stabbed by Aric by Tedros and Filip, who is a magically transformed Sophie. As they die, they turn back into Tristan, with their confession of joining the School for Girl being due to her finding it beautiful, along with their femininity. They realize that Filip is really Sophie, confusing Tedros, and also confess that Evelyn Sader knew who they really were, but allowed it. They die soon after, and a large firework is set off.

Aftermath[]

At the Bank of Putsi, Sophie gets knocked out and awakes inside a vault with Willam, Bogden, and Robin. Sophie remarks how William and Bogden are clearly in love. The four of them plus Bettina escape through a doorway in the wizard tree and then have to climb down a wall with flowers that know your deepest desires. Willam hears one of the flowers talk about bringing his sibling Tristan back, but he ignores it. Later, at one point, Kiko tries to make a move on Willam since he reminds her of Tristan, not catching on that the brothers have no interest in girls. The comment about Tristan not liking girls either was made by Hester but it is unknown how she could have known this for sure.
